Remember Animals in Labs on Giving Tuesday: November 29th, 2022
Every year, millions of animals in Canada experience excruciating pain and die in the name of research that does not reliably predict human outcomes. Live animals are used for burn research, psychological and physical pain research, given cancer, blinded, subjected to broken bones or strokes, swim tests in icy water, forced to inhale smoke and more. All when alternative ways of conducting research exist and it has been shown time and time again that, in research, animal models produce misleading results. Animal physiology is different to human physiology. For example, 95% of drugs that have tested safe in animals have proven unsafe for humans.
Are there alternatives? Yes. They are also more effective. Please see our Alternatives to Animal Research and Testing page for more information by clicking here. You can also find it via the Valid Science section of our site menu.
Help us in our work to end the use of animals in medical and cosmetic research. Your donations help with billboards and other ad space promoting information about animal testing and alternatives, printing costs for literature, and the development of outreach materials. It also helps with projects like our report on the lack of sustainability and biohazards inherent in animal research. We are 100% volunteer run. Your money does not go to paid staff.
DONATION ALERT: A generous anonymous donor has offered to match donations up to $750. Last day of offer is Giving Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2022.
