Every year, thousands of long-tailed macaques are imported into Canadian research laboratories — many believed to have been taken illegally from the wild.

These intelligent, social animals are put into small wooden crates, flown thousands of kilometres, and confined to barren cages in laboratories in Canada, worlds away from the forests they once called home.

Long-tailed macaques are listed as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, yet Canada continues to allow their importation for use in experimentation.

Alongside our international partners, the Animal Protection Party of Canada is working tirelessly to ban the importation of these monkeys into Canada and spare them from exploitation, but we need your support.
