Urgent: Take Action. Make a Call about Monkeys Shipping Back to the Experimentation Industry

One of our supporters has passed on the action alert below to us. It was sent out today by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM). We have made one change to it. The original note from PCRM said to contact Bridget Fahey at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services at: 703-358-2163. However, we tested that number and it doesn’t work. Ms. Fahey is or was with Ecological Services, so we have substituted the number for Ecological Services, 703-358-2171, in the info below. We know the timing is tight on this. We are hoping that even calls that are a bit late will make a difference to future practices.
From Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine:
We’ve learned that notorious monkey trafficker Charles River Laboratories intends to truck about 1,000 endangered, illegally-imported long-tailed macaques from Houston to Dulles Airport in Washington D.C. Tuesday morning [March 14, 2023] where they will be put on the next flight back to Cambodia to be returned to the smuggling pipeline for the experimentation industry—apparently with the blessing of U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
We need your help to stop this travesty and instead send those monkeys to an appropriate sanctuary.
Please take action tonight:
Call Ecological Services at 703-358-2171 (info updated by ADAV) to urge that these monkeys be sent to a sanctuary. Thank you for taking action.
