In memory of Aurora and her daughter Qila

Supporters of ADAV and STOP UBC Animal Research send our love and respects to Aurora and her daughter Qila who have passed away at the Vancouver Aquarium.

Qila died about 2 weeks ago, and it has just been announced that Aurora has also passed. The Aquarium says Aurora was surrounded by people who loved her… Yet she should have been surrounded by other whales – in the wild where she belonged.

In Memory of Jenni

We are very sad to share the tragic loss of a kind, spirited and gifted woman: Jenni Rempel. Jenni was talented, compassionate, wise, a beautiful soul… We will always remember the sensitive photographic work that only she could have created for our campaigns. Her memory will live on for us in “A Mother’s Love” – the words and images were hers, and are all the more meaningful to us now…. Our sincere condolences to all who hold her in their hearts.

While Other Countries Decrease Number of Animals Used in Research, Canada Increases

Media Release: The recently released Canadian Council on Animal Care’s (CCAC) Animal Data Report for 2014 shows a 24% increase in the number of animals used in Canadian labs, universities and institutions over the previous year, and marks the highest amount of animals used over the last decade.
